Meet The Untied Latch Team

  • Lynette Beard RN IBCLC

    Lynette is a Registered Nurse and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. She started her nursing career in 2008 on the High Risk Post Partum Unit where she eventually gained her IBCLC. After she had her first child, she decided to transition into Private Practice and started her own company supporting families in their homes.

    In 2017, she started her journey with tongue ties, having experienced tongue ties first-hand with her 3rd baby. She took the TOTS: Tethered Oral Tissues Specialty Training and has specialized in tongue ties ever since!

    In 2022, Lynette changed the name of her company to The Untied Latch in order to reflect more accurately her team's focus. She is currently mentoring Aislinn through her Pathway 3 Mentorship to become an IBCLC. Lynette enjoys connecting with other health care professionals and hosting their local parent group, Family Circle.

  • Aislinn Hasty IRM, CLE, CBS

    Aislinn became an Internationally Registered Midwife in 2014 that involved work experience across 3 large hospitals in Ireland. Soon after graduating, she moved to London and began working in a large teaching hospital on a high risk unit. Over 3 years, she grew her skillset in providing prenatal, labour, and postpartum care.

    In 2018, Aislinn moved to Ontario and worked in Lactation Education, operating a breast pump rental service. She met people on all walks of their breast/chest feeding journeys, dealing with low milk supply, oversupply, inducing lactation, surrogate families, people with medical complications, and more. A passion for Aislinn is finding the missing piece of the puzzle for families!

    Aislinn joined The Untied Latch in 2021 after having her daughter. She is now a Certified Lactation Educator, Certified Breastfeeding Specialist, and is currently working to become an IBCLC. Her mission is to use her clinical and personal experiences to help others navigate their way to success - whatever that may look like for them!

Meet Your Instructor

  • Jadwiga Merkel RN IBCLC

    Jadwiga (Viga) graduated with her Bachelors of Nursing in 2019 and spent her first pivotal years in the largest NICU on the Canadian prairies. It was here that she developed a passion for supporting young families with complex feeding situations to breastfeed. Viga would spend her breaks supporting families other than her own patients, gently encouraging a breastfeeding relationship within the confines of the NICU. With a desire to share breastfeeding knowledge with her colleagues, Viga published numerous articles for the NICU newsletter as well as supportive publications for parents. She spent much of 2021 with The Untied Latch team, honing her skills supporting families in their homes. Viga is currently practicing as an L&D nurse in Newfoundland, where she continues to take on the resident hat of IBCLC as well.
